Granted, this may not work as well for all applications but for a couple bucks I figured it was worth a try. Glad I did. I installed this on my center console boat to replace the stock single wire antenna. Placement is inside the helm (as high as possible and wrapping any extra length to the sides. It made a HUGE difference in reception - both quantity and quality. I was originally considering some type of powered antenna or, worst case, an external one (definitely not my preference) but I'm happy with the upgraded performance from this simple, yet effective, antenna.
